Beginning Arabic

Arabic is a Semitic language which includes Hebrew and Aramaic. More than 350 million people speak Arabic and it is the fifth most common language in the world. This class is designed to demystify Arabic and to get you started speaking in the modern standard dialect. Class is intended for those who are interested in Arabic cultures, have relatives who speak Arabic, or want to travel or do business in the Middle East. We will start with the alphabet and learn how letters are put together to form words. In class you will learn words and phrases that are used in daily life, including greetings, asking questions, and more. A graduate of Colorado State University, Gheith Sasi has taught Arabic and done business in Dubai. He has retired from his career in the field of biology and is eager to help you expand your horizons by learning Arabic.
