Applied Stargazing: Navigating the Night Sky

Learn about the constellations and how to navigate the glorious night sky. Explore the "how's" and "why's" of the moon phases and the year cycle, and develop a solid foundation and framework for understanding astronomical concepts in general. Class will be both theory and practice; we’ll meet first in the CFU classroom and the second meeting will be in Deer Trail, a one-hour drive east. Adriana Clay, the instructor, grew up in eastern Colorado. Without the burdensome light pollution of an urban area, she was able to indulge her passion in the study of astronomy. Adriana will let you know exact location and all the details in the first class meeting. You’ll have the option afterwards to venture outside for some experiential stargazing at Adriana’s family farm. No matter how much (or little) knowledge you come to class with, this is your chance to deepen your appreciation of the universe.
