Maintaining Electronic Privacy in the Modern Age
Which organization do you believe is the more active threat to your privacy: the NSA or Google? The answer might surprise you. In this age of ubiquitous electronic usage, personal privacy is going the way of the dodo. While many argue they have nothing to hide, the right to maintain one's privacy is still something to be protected. Explore the various ways our privacy is eroding and their detrimental effects. For example, would it surprise you to learn that when you purchase an item on the Internet, you might be charged more than the next guy simply because the seller has learned about you and knows you will pay more? See demonstrations and learn methods to counter the many ongoing attacks on our privacy, and leave with a treasure trove of information to continue exploring. Chris Murphy
is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP) who has working extensively in the information assurance industry for various corporate and private clients. Join this class and learn more about just how private your personal data is (or is not) and what you can do about it. This is a great companion course to Chris Murphy's Safe Computing in the Unsafe Age of Hackers & Data Breaches: Computer Security for the Home User.
