Whether you work for a nonprofit or are on a board, you want to ensure that the organization is conducting affairs in a way that protects you personally and the nonprofit from legal trouble. Explore the various responsibilities of executive directors and board members. Find out what corporate documents you need to file with the state, and learn about finance and tax considerations. Discuss a range of common nonprofit issues and how to best manage your risks. Attorney Kathryn Thomas is corporate counsel at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
