Creating Compelling Characters
Characterization is the lifeblood of a good story. You want to fashion a personality that is not just true to life, but true to the mind, heart, and soul of your reader. This workshop gives you tools and insights for creating characters that are believable, identifiable, unique, complex, and relatable. Discover strategies for getting to know your characters before you start telling their stories. Participate in class in exercises that help you identify what your characters want and how they will navigate the dilemmas they may encounter. By entering into your characters’ frames of reference, identifying their desires, and putting them in some kind of bind, you can create interesting three-dimensional characters.
