Dipping Your Toe into Creative Writing

Explore the craft of creative writing and get the basic tools you need to transform your ideas from concept to the page. New writers will get an overview of topics important to creative writing and intermediate writers will find this a condensed refresher. The class incorporates lecture with short writing exercises designed to apply concepts. Get a quick overview of publishing options as well as a basic introduction to story and plot; narration and point of view; and setting and character. Leave ready to apply these basic concepts to your writing, and with the resources and the direction for further study. Rick Gustafson shares "the things he wished he'd known about writing" early in his career. Rick has an MLS from the University of Denver and has won several writing awards for fiction including the E.M Koeppel Short Fiction prize in 2014. He is a weekly contributor to Colorado Community Media and works fulltime as a writer.
