Letters to the Future: The Simple Guide for Writing Your Memoir (Online)
You have a story to tell, but perhaps you are uncertain about how to begin. When you take the time to preserve stories from your life, you deepen your appreciation for the life you’ve lived and help friends and family to connect to you. This step-by-step workshop helps participants collect stories into a memoir. Explore which stories might be worth sharing, how to outline and write stories, and ways to document personal artifacts in a memoir that can be passed on and saved for the future. Patty Martin has an MA in writing and communication with a master’s certificate in creative writing, and an ME in educational leadership. She has taught high school for 20 years and has authored six instructional books on writing.
First, meet with Patty online for a live, 30-minute discussion and orientation to the course material using Zoom. Then you will have access to the course material online and be able to work through the information and exercises at your own pace. Plan on about 4 hours of course time. If you cannot join the live Zoom meeting, you can still take the online course. The materials fee that is paid at the time is registration is for Patty’s book Letters to the Future: The Simple Guide for Writing Your Memoir, which will give you many helpful ways to access and structure your story so that you can begin to get it on paper. Patty will mail this book to you after you register.
