Documentary Photography: Capture the Moments That Count
The digital world is a visual world. Learn the basics of documentary photography so that your photos can have the highest impact. If you are an entrepreneur or communication/marketing professional tasked with photographing a business, your photos need to make a compelling statement. If you are an amateur photographer, wanting to preserve the images of your life, you want to show the moments that most matter. Delve into what visual storytelling entails and expand your understanding of visual communication. Develop your own unique way of seeing and how to convey what you see in your photos. Get more comfortable photographing people in the field. Class discussions and some field work will be central to the two-session course. Sonya Doctorian was the first online video journalist and projects photo editor at the Rocky Mountain News and was deputy director of photography for the Washington Post. She’s had a 25-year career and now works an independent photojournalist and video producer, specializing in short-form documentaries.
