Color & Flow: Beginning Watercolor Workshop
Watercolor has a mind of its own and resists close control, moving its own way into patterns and pools. By embracing the beauty of the paint’s natural, unruly tendencies we can break away from stifling perfectionism and quickly learn to create beautiful results. This workshop will introduce design concepts like creating a focal point, introducing hard and soft edges, using the rule of three and the golden mean so even beginning artists can create happy results. Class projects will be adapted to the interests and skill level of the class, but in general will move from relaxing exercises that painlessly incorporate skill development to basic layering in floral patterns through city sketching and pen and ink, simple landscape composition, and end by creating an impressionist pet portrait. Stacy Ericson is a retired writer and photographer who now embraces the world of painting. She has taught watercolor and art journaling classes and now works on pet portrait commissions in watercolor.
