Create Your Own Journal: The Ancient Art of Coptic Bookbinding
One-of-a-kind, personalized, handmade journals are uniquely satisfying to use for your writing or art journaling or to give as gifts. In this hands-on workshop you will create your own covers with beautiful decorative papers, make your own journal pages, and then hand-stitch the binding. You’ll learn a century’s old technique called “Coptic binding” that involves attaching sections of paper to each other with chain stitch linkings across the spine. Cathie Evans has been making hand-bound books for 9-years and loves to create art in her free-time. She is a patient teacher who enjoys helping people find their creative sides. She’ll guide you through the process step-by-step and provide detailed hand-outs. You’ll use Cathie’s tools and materials in class and leave with your own distinctive journal and the knowledge to expand on your own creativity at home.
