Survive the Open Mic: Intro to Stand-Up Comedy
The Denver comedy boom is in full force! The booker for new talent night at a major Denver club estimates that they receive 125 calls a week from people seeking stage time and about twenty percent are first-time performers. There's an open mic opportunity every night in town, and that's where comics test their material and hone their skills. In this workshop, you will develop material suitable for local open mics, get constructive feedback, and learn production skills. Ken Cornell
first stepped on stage in 1988 and has performed continually at every open mic, karaoke show, and barn raising he could find around the country and in Colorado. While he hasn't yet made it to late night TV, writing and performing are his rewards. If, like him, you have the need to express yourself, take advantage of this opportunity to benefit from his experience and join a community of comics. Participants will have the opportunity to join Ken for two open mic sessions at a club to dip their toe in, while getting support and mentoring.
