Introduction to Sketch Comedy Writing: Are You Destined for SNL?

Have you ever thought of an idea that seemed perfect for Saturday Night Live or a Monty Python sketch? Or maybe you aspire to create online comedy videos and become the next sensation on YouTube. Learn what it takes to create tiny comic masterpieces. Start with an overview and look at examples of sketch comedy so that you can know what the basic elements of a good sketch are. Then learn about the writing process and explore various approaches. Anders Lankford has managed sketch shows and taught sketch comedy in the Denver area for nearly a decade. He has a degree in creative writing from CU Boulder, was head writer and assistant director/producer for the Bovine sketch team, and head writer and director for the Shock and Awe Sketch Show. Currently he is working on a community sketch club designed to centralize and connect sketch comedians in the area.
